Cécile Plaisance is an artist who left finance to devote herself to art. Inspired by Pop Art and photographers like Helmut Newton, she uses the Barbie doll to explore the relationship between female desire and social control. Her best-known work consists of lenticular prints showing Barbie (often dressed as a nun) moving from clothed to unclothed, symbolizing women's liberation. Her primary goal is to promote women's equality and freedom, protesting rights violations in the name of religion. Recently, she has expanded her work to include real models to amplify her "Hymn to Femininity."
